Emmy award winning actress and Producer Crystal Chappell is a team member whose experience is in line with the vision for Net Soaps/Net Novelas. After a successful 20-year plus acting career in daytime drama, with prominent roles on The Guiding Light, One Life to Live, and Days of our Lives, Chappell struck out on her own. Recognizing that media was moving in a new direction she founded Open Book Productions creating the award winning Venice the Series, digital pilot The Grove, and most recently she partnered with Bella Productions to produce Beacon Hill.
She has developed and executed an in-house subscription-based business model to monetize the web. Venice the Series, now in its fourth season, won the 2011 Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Format Daytime. This online drama, with 15 – 20 minute episodes, has generated significant subscription fees and is currently in talks with an Italian distribution company evaluating opportunities in Italy’s expanding web publishing industry. Chappell will bring her tremendous experience to the Net Soaps / Net Novelas team by vetting concepts, producing and directing original shows, and mentoring new talent.
